Ashtyn Sierra McLean was born in Corner Brook Newfoundland, the daughter of Joyce Blanchard and Allan McLean. She was raised in St. George’s Newfoundland and is proud to call this place her home. Ashtyn has been a member of the St. George’s Indian Band since 2002.

Upon the completion of high school, Ashtyn attended Memorial University of Newfoundland where she obtained her Bachelor of Social Work Degree.

Ashtyn plays an active role within her community. She is a member of  Qalipu  First Nation Band as well as the St. George’s Indian Cove Women’s Circle. Ashtyn enjoys learning and taking part in activities pertaining to her Aboriginal culture.

Ashtyn is presently serving her first term as a Youth Representative with the St. George’s Indian Band. She looks forward to learning about her culture and passing this knowledge on to upcoming generations.

Our priorities include education, health, economic development, improved housing, cultural enhancement, tourism and recreation.

Our spiritual grounds are located in different areas: Steel Mountain, Mendueuge (Devil’s Place), Calvary Hill, Hell’s Gultch, Hungry Grove, Seal Rocks, Molly Ann’s Cove, and the Mouth of Barachois.
