Mary was born at Black Duck Siding, the daughter of Bun and Gen Garnier.  She was reared in St. George’s and is proud to have always called it home.

Upon graduation from St. Joseph’s High School at sixteen years old, Mary was hired by what was then known as the “Avalon” Telephone Company in Stephenville Crossing.  She is currently employed as a District Assistant with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Stephenville and thoroughly enjoys her position.  She feels extremely fortunate to have been able to work her whole life in the local area.

Mary joined the St. George’s Indian Band in 2001.  She was previously Secretary of the Band when it came to her attention that there was a need for more members to become active at the Executive level.  Her hope for the future is that members can avail of educational opportunities that would otherwise not be open to them.
